Stains and odor

Iron and Sulfur Removal in Irvine

Oxidizing filtration that takes out the dissolved iron behind orange stains and the hydrogen sulfide behind the rotten-egg smell, sized to your water.

End the stains and the smell together

Dissolved iron is invisible coming out of the tap, then turns orange or brown once it meets air, leaving stains on sinks, tubs, toilets, laundry and driveways where sprinklers hit. Hydrogen sulfide is what makes water smell like rotten eggs, often worst on the hot side. Both are most common on wells, though plumbing and water heater issues can create similar symptoms in any home. Irvine Water Systems uses oxidizing filtration that converts iron and sulfur into particles the media can trap and then backwash away. Before we install anything, we work out whether the source is the water itself or something in your plumbing, because the fix is different. If a softener is already in place and staining continues, iron is usually the reason, and the fix belongs in front of the softener.

What an iron and sulfur system includes

Getting this right depends on chemistry, so these are the pieces we handle carefully.

Source check

We work out whether the odor or staining comes from the supply or from inside the home, such as a water heater anode.

Iron and sulfur levels

We size the system to how much is present, since media capacity depends on it.

Oxidizing media

Media that converts dissolved iron and sulfur to particles it can filter out.

Air or oxidizer injection

Where levels call for it, we add an air-injection or oxidizer stage to help the media work.

Automatic backwash

The control valve flushes trapped particles to drain on a schedule so the bed stays clean.

Drain connection

The backwash line is run to an approved drain with a proper air gap.

Softener pairing

If hardness is also present, a softener goes after the iron stage.

Ongoing care plan

You learn how often the media or oxidizer needs attention for your levels.

How we tackle iron and sulfur

1

Find the source

We confirm whether the problem is in the water or the plumbing. If it is a water heater issue, we tell you rather than selling a filter.

2

Install the system

We fit the oxidizing filter, any injection stage, the drain line and bypass valves, usually in a single visit.

3

Backwash and confirm

We run the first backwash, test the treated water and show you the controls.

Why choose us for iron and sulfur

Diagnosis before equipment

We find the source first so you are not paying to treat the wrong thing.

Sized to the levels

Undersized media fails fast on iron. We size it to what is there.

Clear about upkeep

You know what the system needs and when, in writing.
